What is the Testimonial of the Helper?
The Testimonial of the Helper from a previous employer provided by the foreign domestic worker that indicates she/he has prior working experience as a domestic worker, and this can include working experience in her place of origin.
If your domestic worker will be working in Hong Kong for the first time, one of the requirements of the Hong Kong Immigration Department for her/his visa application will be to provide proof showing at least 2 years of working experience as a domestic worker. The working visa will only be approved with the provision of the Testimonial of the Helper.
Validity of the Testimonial of the Helper
The domestic worker may provide proof from any period of his/her life as long as he/she is of legal age to work at the time of that employment.
How to prepare for the testimonial of the Helper
A photocopy of the Testimonial of the Helper is accepted by the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
The Testimonial of the Helper must include the following:
- Name of the previous employer
- Description of job duties
- Address of the household
- Signature of the previous employer

There is no standard template provided the Hong Kong Immigration Department but below is a template on how it might look like:
To whom it may concern:
This is to certify that Ms. [name of the helper] worked as my domestic worker during the period of [period of employment]. During her employment, she performed [Description of job duties ].
